Skookum
Rendezvous is situated in the North Eastern most county of the state
of Washington, Pend Oreille (Pond-er-ay). Just north west
of the town of Newport and 50 miles North of Spokane, Washington.
Pend Oreille county is bordered on the north by Canada
and the east by Idaho. It is 66 miles long and 22 miles wide
(1402 square miles) and has a population of 11,200, leaving ample
room in it's mountains, forests, lakes, and rivers for wildlife.
The average temperature range is 20°F to 80°F with
annual precipitation of 28". The elevation of Skookum
Rendezvous RV Resort is only 2,054 feet above sea level.

and services, gas , groceries, food and lodging, stores, offices,
Post Office, churches, schools, library, and city park. |

City of Newport is located in southeast Pend Oreille County. It is
at the southerly end of the Pend Oreille River Valley on the south
bank of the Pend Oreille River, adjacent to the Idaho-Washington border
at the intersection of U.S. Highway 2, State Highway 20, and Idaho
State Highway 41. Elevation of Newport is 2,135 and is surrounded
by forested hillsides and mountains ranging in elevation from 1,900
feet to 7,500 feet. Newport is approximately 50 miles northeast of
Spokane. Newport is the County Seat with courthouse, Sheriff's offices
and jail, post office, library, museum, hospital, clinic, nursing
home, physicians, dentists, gas, groceries, food and lodging, stores,
offices, banks, newspaper, churches, movie theater, city park, USFS
Ranger Station, radio stations, elementary, junior/senior schools,
softball complex, and rodeo grounds. The population of Newport is
approximately 1,691. |

Spokane is a small western city with a population of 189,000 and another
200,000 in the surrounding area. It is the major medical, transportation,
and cultural center for the Inland Pacific Northwest. Ever-expanding,
Spokane International Air Port has 9000 feet runways and serve seven
major air carriers as well as air cargo companies. Spokane is
home to professional sports teams as well as mass participation events
like the Bloomsday Run and HoopFest 3-on-3 basketball tournament.
Both are among the largest events of their kind in the world. |
